Non-destructive Testing
In-house NDT to international standards
RP Valves operates a dedicated non-destructive testing facility at our UK site, carrying out inspections to multiple industry standards – including ASME, ASTM, API, NACE, MSS and ISO specifications.
Surface inspections
RP Valves can conduct surface inspection of valves, trim parts and welds, including Visual Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), and Dye/Liquid Penetrant Inspection (DPI/LPI).
Sub-surface inspections
RP Valves offers Radiography (RT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for the detection of volumetric internal flaws – including porosity, laminations and cracks in castings, forgings and welds. Wall thickness checks via compressional ultrasonics are also available for compliance with minimum wall thickness calculations.
Alloy verification/Positive Material Identification (AV/PMI)
Using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and optical emission spectrometry (OES) equipment, RP Valves can conduct PMI on a wide range of steel, nickel and copper alloys – including verification of light elements such as aluminium for aluminium-bronze alloys, and carbon for low/high carbon-content verification in steels.
Hardness testing
RP Valves's Ultrasonic Contact Impedance (UCI) equipment allows hardness testing of small areas not otherwise accessible via conventional methods – including welds and their heat affected zone (HAZ).
Comprehensive test reporting
All NDT carried out by RP Valves is accompanied by a comprehensive test report detailing the valve parts tested and every inspection performed. Reports are signed by BS EN ISO 9712 qualified Level 2 personnel and, where witnessed, counter-signed by a third-party inspector.
